BRAZIL- THE AMAZON BASIN
A team from John Hopkins Medical Center is looking for new medicines in the rainforest. One hundred unrecorded plant species are
disappearing yearly as the hardwood trees are plundered. This habitat will disappear forever, leaving thin soils that will wash
away, making those areas a virtual desert.
NORTH TANZANIA- THE SERENGETI
This important African ecosystem is located in north Tanzania and extends to south-western Kenya. A BPI team is working to see
how this grassy region is reacting to poaching, over-hunting, and population pressures for the animal species.
